City of Trail receives update on supportive housing funding
The City of Trail has received formal notice from BC Housing that the provincial funding set aside for proposed supportive housing development in Trail is no longer available at this time. BC Housing has indicated that this change arises from province-wide fiscal constraints and a significant reduction in the availability of capital funding for housing projects.
BC Housing emphasized that it remains committed to a project in Trail and intends to continue collaborative planning with the City so that progress can resume as funding becomes available.
Mayor and Council recognize that the need for supportive housing in Trail remains urgent, as reflected in the City’s Housing Needs Report and in ongoing community conversations. The City will continue advocating to provincial and federal levels of government for solutions that meet the scale of local housing needs, while also acknowledging that this is a province-wide issue, not a Trail‑specific setback.
