Garbage & Recycling

Effective October 2, 2023, the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary (RDKB) is responsible Trail’s Garbage Services and Green Bin Organics Collection.

Your Garbage & Green Bin Organics collection is the same day. Your garbage bags MUST BE TAGGED with an RDKB GARBAGE TAG. Tags are $3 each and can be purchased at various retail locations, the RDKB Office at 843 Rossland Ave. and Trail City Hall at 1394 Pine Avenue.

Recycle BC is responsible for residential recycling for the City of Trail and operates this program through a local contractor.

For information on how the program works, visit the Recycle BC website at www.recyclebc.ca for information as to what can be recycled curb side and what needs to be brought to a depot. There is also an address search tool where you can easily determine your collection schedule.

To obtain recycling bags or blue boxes, please contact the contractor GFL Environmental at 250-367-0099 and they would be happy to deliver directly to your door.

The McKelvey Creek Regional Landfill is operated by the RDKB and serves all communities in the Greater Trail area and is located at1900 Highway 3B in Trail. Call 250-364-9834 for more information.
