Keeping Trail Running Strong
The Municipal Services Department provides operational services on behalf of Council, the organization, and the public.
It is responsible for the planning, delivery, and maintenance of municipal infrastructure, utilities, parks, recreation services, and engineering support, including:
Delivering recreation and leisure programs and services to the community.
Operating and maintaining recreation facilities, including the Trail Memorial Centre, Trail Aquatic and Leisure Centre, the Fieldhouse, and parks and playgrounds.
Maintaining parks, green spaces, and public amenities throughout the City.
Maintaining and operating the City’s transportation network, including roads, sidewalks, streetlights, traffic signals, parking areas, and the Columbia River Skywalk.
Operating and maintaining water and utility infrastructure, including watermains, fire hydrants, and the water treatment plant.
Maintaining municipal facilities, yards, cemeteries, and fleet and mechanical services.
Supporting procurement and inventory management for municipal operations.
Providing engineering services to all departments and the public.
Maintaining City mapping, geographic information systems (GIS), and infrastructure records.
Providing property servicing information and support to residents and developers.
Managing capital projects and supporting long-term asset planning and infrastructure replacement.
Ensuring municipal infrastructure and services are delivered in a safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible manner.
The Department is led by the General Manager of Municipal Services and is comprised of the Manager of Parks and Recreation, Facilities Maintenance Manager, Utilities Manager, Grounds and Roads Manager, Purchasing and Mechanical Manager, Manager of Engineering and Projects, Engineering Technicians, coordinators, and numerous operational staff.
