The 2024 Citizen of the Year is: Sister Norma

Sister Norma has quietly shaped the heart of Trail for nearly four decades
Sister Norma first came to Trail 37 years ago and thought it would be for just one year. But Trail had a different plan—and thank goodness it did.
Over the years, she has been a guiding light in so many lives. As a teacher, a comforter, an advocate, and a friend, she offered her time, your energy, and her heart without ever asking for anything in return.
Sister Norma has a quiet way of lifting people up, stepping into hard situations with compassion, and meeting need with grace—it leaves an impression that stays. She doesn’t just talk about love or faith or service—she lives it, every day.
From St. Michael’s School to the Sanctuary, from the hospital to WINS, she has left kindness everywhere she goes. Children light up when they see her. Grown-ups feel steadier in her presence. She reminds us what it means to truly care.
Each May, a nominated individual who resides in either Warfield or Trail, is chosen for the citizen of the year award. The citizen of the year is chosen on the following criteria.
