The Trail Silver City Days committee can’t wait to see you at this year’s festival, officially starting tomorrow, Wednesday, May 10 after tonight’s Citizen of the Year ceremony in recognition of Peter Makortoff. Congratulations, Peter!
We‘re offering all the favourites including the Shooting Star midway, the Riverfront Food Fair, the Firefighters’ parade, the Colombo Lodge Spaghettata and bocce tournament, the Trail Ambassador Pageant, the Saturday Sidewalk Café, a beer garden, fireworks, and so much more! View the full schedule online at www.silvercitydays.com.
Unique to this year’s event is ‘Billy and Elton - The Legacy’ at the Bailey Theatre at 7:30 pm on Saturday, May 13. Tickets are only $25 and are available online at thebailey.ca. You don’t want to miss this concert in celebration of two of the greatest singers, pianists, and songwriters in pop music history, Billy Joel and Elton John!
The last day of the festival, Sunday, May 14, is jam-packed with family-friendly activities at Gyro Park from noon to 3 pm featuring Circus West’s free workshops and shows, a play area for kids, flowers for Mom, arts and crafts, and light food and snack vendors. If you’re looking for breakfast before heading to the park, stop by St. Michael’s School for the Knights of Columbus’ Mother’s Day pancake breakfast from 9 to 11:30 am.
We also have a few reminders for event-goers. There will be several street closures and detours during the multi-day festival, so we remind motorists to take caution when driving through the downtown core. We’d also like to remind pool users that the Trail Aquatic & Leisure Centre’s pool will be closed on Saturday, May 13 so aquatic staff can assist in the KidZone inside the Trail Memorial Centre. The Fitness Centre will remain open during its regular hours of operation.
See you at the festival!
