TMC upgrades: heat recovery and refrigerated floor projects update May 29, 2025

The Cominco Arena concourse area is closed to the public. As such, the walking circuit above the ice surface and stands is not available for use. This is for the safety of the public and contractor.

The rear parking lot of the TMC is closed off for use by the Contractors for facility access, equipment lanes, and material storage. Click here for a map.

An emergency fire lane remains; however, access is limited to staff and contractors only in this rear lot and no through lane to the front of the building is provided.

There is no ice surface through the entirety of the project; users accustomed to ice use in August, September and early October will be affected.

The Trail Smoke Eaters Office and Store, located within the Trail Memorial Centre, will remain open throughout the project from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. They can be reached at 250-364-9994.

This all-encompassing project includes: demolition of all existing infrastructure (boards, concrete, and piping); excavation for structural fill replacement; new heating and cooling piping loops, new concrete floor; new dasher boards that meet NHL safety standards with seamless acrylic glass; and energy-efficient upgrades to the refrigeration and boiler plants.
