RDKB Garbage Services and Garbage Tags

Starting October 2, 2023, the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary (RDKB) will take over garbage services from the City of Trail. View the RDKB’s collection schedule or the RDKB’s online interactive map to check your collection day.

Starting October 2, 2023, each garbage bag left out for collection must be tagged with an RDKB garbage tag. Trail residents must purchase these tags for $3/tag. The tags are available now at the following locations:

Trail City Hall at 1394 Pine Avenue, 9 AM to 3 PM Monday through Friday. Closed on statutory holidays.
Ferraro Foods at 850 Farwell Street
Safeway at 1599 Second Avenue
Canadian Tire at 8238 Highway 3B
No Frills at the Waneta Plaza 8100 Rock Island Highway
McKelvey Creek Landfill at 1900 Highway 3B
RDKB Office at 202-864 Rossland Avenue

Note: The City of Trail will provide a credit on 2024 utility bills for residents who paid the 2023 annual garbage rate. 84% of the annual garbage rate is to cover the cost of curbside pick-up so the credit will reimburse residents for the collection costs from October to December 2023 that the RDKB will now be responsible for. The City’s spring and fall yard waste pick up service, which is the remaining 16% of the annual rate, will continue in the current year and into 2024.

RDKB Green Bin Organics Program

The RDKB’s green bin organics program will also start on October 2, 2023. All residents received a green bin, kitchen bucket, and a sample pack of paper bucket liners last month. View the Green Bin User Guide to learn what you can put in your green bin for collection.

Your green bin and garbage collection day is the same day; please refer to the RDKB’s collection schedule or the RDKB’s online interactive map to check your collection day.
