The City of Trail Water Treatment Plant crew will be chlorinating the Green Gables Reservoir on Monday, May 8, which will affect the Waneta area.
During the chlorinating process a slight chlorine smell may be detected for approximately two weeks, which will dissipate with regular water usage. This chlorinating process will repeat every three months as part of the City’s preventive maintenance program.
Chlorinating is a necessary maintenance technique used to clean and disinfect the reservoirs and water distribution system. The chlorinated water is perfectly safe to drink and not a health hazard.
If you have questions or concerns about chlorinating, please contact the City of Trail Public Works Department at 250-364-0840 or by email.
Thank you,
City of Trail Utilities Superintendent
