Update as of May 15, 2025:
We are pleased to share that water service has been fully restored following the emergency water main break on Rossland Avenue. From approximately 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14 until 7:30 a.m. Thursday, May 15, City of Trail Public Works crews worked tirelessly through the night to complete the necessary repairs and restore service to the affected area.
This successful outcome is a direct result of the preparation, dedication, and professionalism of our Public Works team. We extend our sincere thanks to the crews who worked through the night to ensure the safety and reliability of our water infrastructure.
As part of the repair process, crews had to mill up sections of pavement. While the water is back on, there may still be areas along Rossland Avenue where road conditions have changed. Please continue to drive with caution, watch for pedestrians, and be alert around work zones and signage.
Public Works crews are now focused on restocking supplies and preparing for any additional emergencies that may arise. Their commitment to maintaining essential services for our community is deeply appreciated.
Reminder: if you experience discoloured water or air in your pipes now that service has resumed, please run your cold water taps for several minutes until the water runs clear.
We thank all residents for their patience and cooperation during this emergency. Your understanding helps us respond quickly and effectively in times of need.
Stay safe, and please continue to drive carefully in the area.
Wednesday, May 14, 2025:
City of Trail personnel identified a significant water main break on Rossland Ave. As a result, an immediate stop of water services in the area was necessary to address the emergency. Our dedicated city crews are actively engaged in isolating the affected section and expediting repairs to minimize the duration and extent of the water service disruption.
Excavation has begun at 495 Rossland Avenue and water is seen flowing down the road. Click here for a map showing the primary location of break and traffic delays.
Please watch for equipment working and follow all traffic signage. Make eye contact with workers to communicate and be mindful of blind spots around large equipment.
We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we undertake this critical infrastructure repair to ensure the continued reliability of your water supply. Thank you for your patience during this time.
If you experience discoloured water and air when the water service is turned back on, run your cold taps for several minutes until the water clears.
