The City of Trail's water treatment and water distribution systems

The City's water treatment and distribution system is designed and maintained to deliver clean, safe and reliable drinking water to homes and businesses throughout the community. The City also maintains the Sanitary Sewer and the Storm Sewer Collection Systems; however, the Regional District of Kootenay Boundary provides Wastewater Treatment at Columbia Pollution Control Centre, located in Waneta.

The City provides safe, clean water daily to all its residents and businesses, thanks to pipes, pumps, plants, and people:

• 2 water sources: the Columbia River and the Bear Creek Well
• 1 direct filtration water treatment plant
• 1 deep, high producing well
• 82.6 kilometers of pipe
• 3,413 connections
• 8 storage reservoirs
• 5 booster pump stations
• 8 skilled and qualified staff who test, treat, fix, monitor, build and protect.

The City’s Water Quality report, which the British Columbia Drinking Water Act requires, gives information about how the City is doing, with regard to the water you drink and use every day. The City is proud to report that our water is of very high quality, consistently meeting and/or exceeding the Guidelines for Canadian Drinking Water Quality.
