The City of Trail decommissioned the Violin Lake Dam system in 2021. The four dams were successfully removed from the Cambridge Creek and Violin Lake watersheds to eliminate risks to public safety, reduce liability, and reduce high repair and maintenance costs for the City of Trail.
The goal of the performance monitoring and reporting is to judge whether the ecological restoration efforts and mitigation measures for dam removals are achieving their intended goals and objectives in providing ecological benefits and eliminating or minimizing negative environmental impacts.
The construction completion reporting is created to assure that the construction work on the decommissioning of the dams has been completed as per the proposed work described in the plan submissions. This reporting also breaks down the proposed Performance Monitoring and Adaptive Management Plans and their particular duration and frequency.
The final design report contains the various engineering investigations and recommendations used for the approval of dam decommissioning. This report forms an important element of the project design documents and supports the development of the plans and specifications.
